TUITION ASSISTANCE PROGRAM
The State Tuition Assistance Programs covers up to 50% tuition at a South Dakota state universities and 83.5% at supported Technical Institutes. Federal Tuition Assistance will be paid directly to the school and will cover a maximum of $250 per semester hour, no more than 16 credit hours per fiscal year Oct. 1 - Sept. 30. Federal Tuition Assistance is available ask your SD Army National Guard representative about the educational benefits you will recieve as a SD Army National Guard Member.
MONTGOMERY GI BILL FOR COLLEGE AND VO-TECH STUDENTS
Students who are eligible can earn up to $13,032 under the Montgomery GI Bill. Upon application to the Veterans Administration office, you will be certified as a full-time, three-quarter time or half-time student with the following tax free monthly checks:
- Full - time $369.00/mo for 36 months = $13,284
- 3/4 - time $276.00/mo for 48 months = $13,248
- 1/2 - time $184.00/mo for 72 months = $13,248
GI BILL KICKER FOR COLLEGE AND VO-TECH STUDENTS
Students who are eligible can earn up to $7,200 under the Montgomery GI Bill Kicker, along with the Montgomery GI Bill. The GI Bill Kicker is available* only if you choose to enlist into a critical skill and is good for a total of 36 full-time months of study. The Kicker is an incentive, not an entitlement, so you’ll need to be qualified in order to receive the benefit. The Kicker is paid in conjunction with a basic GI Bill benefit, and eligibility can be established only if you’re eligible for either the MGIB-SR, Chapter 1606 or MGIB-AD, Chapter 30 program.

STUDENT LOAN REPAYMENT
This program allows individuals who are eligible to earn up to $50,000* in student loan repayment. The SD Army National Guard may be able to assist in the payment of past student loans for both non-prior service and prior service applicants. *Check with your SD Army National Guard representative for exact details. EARN A MONTHLY SALARY
Get paid for attending monthly unit training assemblies (UTAs). This part- time job can bring you a starting wage between $12.07 and $17.05 per hour (E-1 - E-4 rank with less than two years time in service). Working one weekend a month (weekend drill) and two weeks a year (annual training) can really add up!

STRIPES FOR BUDDIES PROGRAM
Promotion to E-2: you must refer 1 student/graduate who enlists.
Promotion to E-3: you must refer 2 students/graduates who enlist.
High School Juniors who are at least 17 years of age may enlist and attend Basic Combat Training between their junior and senior year. After graduation you would then complete Advanced Individual Training. Seniors, graduates and seasonal workers may also utilize this program.
JOIN NOW AND GET PAID NOW
If you are a high school or college student and you want to join the SD Army National Guard, but don’t want to miss any school, you can join
and get paid for attending drills for up to nine months before you attend Basic Combat Training. This will allow you to belong to the SD Army National Guard without a break in your education.
COLLEGE CREDITS FOR PROMOTION
Depending on how many classroom semester or quarter hours you have successfully completed prior to enlistment, you could automatically be promoted to E-2, E-3 or E-4.
EARN COLLEGE CREDITS FOR BCT AND AIT
Some of your military training may even count towards college credits.* An education officer will evaluate your military training and recommend to your college that they accept anywhere from 7-32 Semester hours.
